Payroll Specialist

Sobre la empresa

We’re not your typical startup. Runa is transforming a long-stagnant HR software ecosystem by bringing a proven U.S. model to Latin America—a fully cloud-based human resources platform that delivers payroll processing, employee management (onboarding and offboarding), time and PTO tracking, and automated reporting. Our headquarters in Mexico City’s Polanco district serves as our operations hub, supporting more than 12 countries across Latin America over the next five years.

Our team brings more than 25 years of business and technology experience in the region, with academic backgrounds from Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, and more. We’re backed by Salesforce investors as well as top venture capital firms from Silicon Valley and South America—funds that have invested in companies like Cabify, Rappi, Clip, and MercadoLibre in Latin America, and Gusto, Zenefits, and Namely in the HR tech space. In short, we know what we’re doing.

  • Work closely with the Product team to scope requirements for U.S. payroll processes, including payroll calculations, payroll workflows, and federal/state/local tax registrations and payments.
  • Evaluate the impact that adjustments to payroll calculation methodologies may have on end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Stay informed about payroll trends, regulatory reforms, and industry standards to support Runa’s competitive advantage in the U.S. market.
  • Develop payroll calculators, simulators, and example scenarios for internal teams as needed.
  • Support the Customer team on technical client requests that require specialized payroll expertise.
  • Participate in payroll reviews and calculations involving special payments such as bonuses, severance, retroactive adjustments, supplemental wages, and year-end processes (e.g., W-2 adjustments).
  • Partner with the Marketing team on content creation related to U.S. payroll topics, including participating in webinars or educational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—especially HR—to provide company-wide training on U.S. payroll concepts, processes, and compliance.
