What’s the difference between bank layouts and SPEI transfers?
Bank layouts are files you download from Runa and upload to your business banking portal to make payments. With SPEI Transfers, you can automate payroll payouts directly from Runa via STP, without using bank files.
Can I pay employees who have accounts at different banks?
Yes. Runa lets you prepare payments for employees with accounts at different banks, either using compatible bank layouts or SPEI transfers to CLABE accounts at participating institutions.
Do I need to use the same bank as my employees?
Not necessarily. With SPEI Transfers you can send payments between different participating banking institutions, without your employees needing accounts at the same bank as your company.
Are the amounts pulled automatically from payroll?
Yes. Runa uses the net amounts calculated in the Payroll module to prepare bank files or SPEI transfers, avoiding duplicate data entry and reducing errors.
Can I make weekly, biweekly, or monthly payments?
Yes. You can organize and prepare your payments based on your payroll frequency, including weekly, biweekly, and monthly payments, using either bank layouts or SPEI transfers.

How do Runa’s SPEI transfers work with STP?
Runa integrates with STP to streamline electronic payroll transfers. Once the service is enabled, you can prepare and authorize the payout from Runa, without manually generating or uploading bank files.
What happens if a SPEI transfer is rejected?
You can check the status of transfers to identify rejected payments, review banking details, and make the necessary corrections before retrying the payment.
Do SPEI transfers have an additional cost?
Yes. SPEI transfers via STP have an additional cost of $10 MXN per employee per month, regardless of payroll payment frequency.
Can I use bank layouts and SPEI transfers at the same time?
Runa offers both payout methods, letting you choose between generating bank files or making SPEI transfers based on your company’s needs. The ability to combine both methods within the same period depends on the available configuration.
