Jeeves is an all in one platform that provides agile and flexible management of expenses, payments, and financing for technology companies, as well as small and medium sized businesses operating globally. Its key differentiator is that it allows companies to make payments at any time, from anywhere, and in multiple currencies through physical and digital corporate cards that operate on the Mastercard network. This level of operational flexibility has allowed Jeeves to eliminate many of the typical barriers faced by companies with a presence in different countries, offering customers a consistent experience no matter where they are. Growth was so fast that Jeeves reached unicorn status with a valuation of five hundred million dollars after closing a fifty seven million dollar Series B round led by CRV. It is a story of scalability, but also of complex internal challenges, such as payroll management when the team is already distributed and expanding.

What were the main challenges?

At first, payroll was managed through more traditional schemes that worked for a smaller operation, but as Jeeves scaled, that system began to fall short. It no longer offered the level of control or visibility that the Human Resources team needed, and worse, it created a significant additional workload for the internal team. The process involved coordinating several external providers, multiple reviews, and all administrative follow up for invoicing fell on HR, which only added more complexity to day to day operations. Gorca Yañez explains it very clearly: “We had too many intermediaries and little visibility; that made the process slow and costly.” 

That combination becomes unsustainable when a company is in the middle of international expansion. Runa made it possible to organize all of that, centralize information, recover internal control, and reduce both operational costs and the time invested in repetitive tasks. The transition marked a before and after.

In what areas has Runa helped them?

The change was significant. Runa did not only solve payroll. It allowed the HR team to operate with more order, structure, and clarity without having to grow in size. The platform made it possible to centralize the entire administration of employee payments across different countries with a much clearer, more visual, and much more efficient logic. As the company continued to grow, the last thing they wanted was for administrative management to become a bottleneck.  Runa helped them scale without adding internal weight. In addition, Jeeves was able to integrate the health insurance offered by Runa as part of its employee well being strategy. As Gorca Yañez points out, “today we can manage payroll in an orderly and frictionless way, even with teams distributed across different countries,” which has allowed them to scale their operation without having to proportionally increase the size of the Human Resources team.
